TOR All-Purpose Carts

October, 2019

Once upon a time, making short runs to the corner store, heading to the neighborhood pool or visiting friends down the street meant squeezing into a golf cart. Trouble is, those vehicles are designed for carrying a couple of players and their golf bags from the front to the back nine. Golf carts aren’t ideally designed for carrying groceries, pool gear and food when making the rounds in the neighborhood. Nor are they street legal.

Now there is a better alternative that can do all of the above—the all-purpose cart, a hybrid off-road vehicle that active outdoor families are discovering as the perfect match for their needs.

Even better, these hybrids can perform double duty away from home for family outdoor adventures. Whether it’s roaming around the campground, down to the dock or across the field to the pond, these carts can do it all. That even includes crossing sandy beaches or muddy terrain when the need arises for all-wheel drive capabilities. They offer the functionality of an ATV, with the practicality of comfortable seating, and with just the right amount of cargo space, just like a compact SUV.

What’s so cool about all-purpose carts? They are easy to start and have plenty of power from EFI gas engines. They are easy to drive and are more practical than Grandpa’s golf cart. They are stylish, too, and can be outfitted for fishing, trap shooting, hauling and of course, neighbor visiting and even parading. Across RV parks, around the marina and throughout the neighborhood, All-Purpose Carts are just easier to get around, and even park, than the family SUV.

The first question you might have is whether or not these vehicles are street legal. The answer depends on where you live. A windshield, headlights, taillights, brake lights, turn signals and mirrors—those are the basics required by most local governments, along with seat belts for every passenger.

Are you ready to pack up the gear, load up the kids and leave the SUV parked in the garage? For short trips—and getting even closer to the outdoors—these all-purpose carts are the way to go. TRACKER OFF ROAD All-Purpose Carts are worth taking a look at, and you can at your nearest Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s Boating Center. The friendly experts can also fill you in on local laws and rules of the road for these vehicles.

Before you go, here’s a look at three of the models available from TRACKER OFF ROAD.

LX4

Key features:

  • 13.5HP EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection)
  • 4" lifted chassis and 23" all-terrain tires and sport wheels
  • Fold-down cargo deck with 400-lb. load capacity
  • LED headlights, taillights and brake lights
  • Dashboard storage pockets
  • Premium steering wheel
  • Fuel gauge
  • Low oil indicator
  • Catalyst-styled muffler that exceeds emission standards in all 50 states
  • Canopy top that extends 80" and covers rear passengers
  • Split windshield that folds up/down
  • Strut kit
  • 2-year warranty

What makes it stand out: The LX4 can safely and comfortably handle four people. That’s up front and in the rear-facing back seat, which also folds down to make a spacious cargo deck. That space has a 400-pound load rating, which can handle more than a few beach towels and a cooler. It’ll also handle gardening tools, heavy bags of mulch and plenty of other bulky items. The LX4 is lifted about 4" higher than some other brands. What that means for you is the capability to hop the curb and go off-road with more ground clearance. More lift and larger tires mean that steep hills, back roads, trails through the woods and low-water crossings are no problem. If it rains on your parade, no worries. What stands out over other choices is the canopy top that completely covers the rear seats.

Check this out: When compared to many other brands feature-to-feature, the TRACKER LX4 is nearly $2,000 less. Imagine the accessories you can add for those savings. In fact, there are three optional accessory packages from which you can choose.

Optional packages: The American Sportsman Package is tricked out for the sporting clays range. It comes with a clays basket, gun-boot kit, a five-panel mirror and four-passenger seat belt kit. The price is $989, which is a savings of more than $327 over buying those items separately. The Road Runner Package comes with what you’ll need to make it street legal, such as a five-panel mirror, four-passenger seat belt kit and turn signals. You’ll save $98 for its total price of $329. The Party Time Package comes with a dual-sided Bazooka sound bar and underbody lighting kit for style. The price is $729—$248 cheaper than buying each item separately.

LX6

Key features:

  • 23" all-terrain tires
  • 82" top
  • LED headlights, taillights and brake lights
  • Fold-down windshield
  • Rear seats that fold down for spacious cargo deck with 400-lb. hauling capacity
  • Dashboard storage pockets
  • Low oil indicator
  • Fuel gauge
  • Catalyst-styled muffler that exceeds emission standards in all 50 states
  • 2-year warranty

What makes it stand out: This six-seater has a lot of leg room for folks and the gear they need to carry or pick up. With the extra seating, you might wonder if the LX6 will fit your permanent parking space. It’s just under 12 feet long and about 4 feet wide, and the roof brings it up to just under 6 1/2' tall. That helps if fit nicely in many tight spaces. Here’s another plus for tight squeezes—the LX6 can turn a 360° circle in about 25’, which is just over twice its overall length. You can go nearly everywhere with the 23" tires with the aggressive, traction-biting tread design and higher ground clearance. That makes the LX6 ideal for work and play. It comes with a 400-pound cargo rating, so you can pile on the gear and hardly ever say no to whatever needs to get picked up. Unlike your auto there is little need in watching the gas needle. A full tank will usually take you about 150 miles. What else is cool about the LX6 is the functional practicality that is designed into it. The windshield folds down or back up as needed, and the back seats convert to a cargo deck when laid down.

Check this out: You’ll save over $1,000 or even $2,500 when comparing the LX6 to other brands by comparable features. What can you do with that? Read on!

Optional packages: You can add the same Road Runner Package as the LX4, which makes both models street legal in most areas. Priced at $439.

LX6 Electric

Key features:

  • 23" all-terrain tires
  • 82" top
  • LED headlights, taillights and brake lights
  • Fold-down windshield
  • Rear seats that fold down to create a spacious cargo deck with a 400-lb. hauling capacity
  • 72V AC powertrain
  • State-of-charge meter
  • Rabbit/turtle (hi-lo) speed switch
  • Dual USB ports
  • Hour meter
  • Canopy top
  • Split windshield that folds up/down
  • Strut kit
  • 2-year warranty

What makes it stand out: The LX6 Electric is a six-seater with many of the same features as the LX6. With rugged tires and higher ground clearance, just like its gas-powered sibling, the LX6 Electric outperforms its rivals in an eco-friendly package. The LX6 is powered by a 72-volt battery system. Compare that to the 48-volt system used by comparable brands, and you get more for your money and then some. With a 72-volt battery that means more torque when climbing hills so you don’t bog down. When completely discharged it takes about 12 hours to fully charge the battery. You can do that overnight so the vehicle will be ready to roll the next day. Maintenance is easy, too. Simply check the water levels in the batteries about once a month.

Check this out: When you compare it feature-to-feature, the LX6 is priced nearly $2,000 less than other brands, like Club Car.

Optional packages: The Road Runner package makes it street legal in most areas. Priced at $439.
